Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla Awry and Alne Rivers | Tilting the Balance

During the Tilting the Balance quest in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, you’ll need to locate the point where the Awry and Alne rivers join to find King Burgred. Once you do this, you’ll have to kidnap him and bring him back to Tamworth so a new king can be crowned in his place. However, figuring out where to find the old Crypt south of Ledecestrescire where the two rivers meet is a bit ambiguous. So, we will show you exactly where you need to go to find King Burgred.

Where the Awry and Alne Rivers Join

Alne and Awry Rivers Join

As the clue indicates, the Awry and Alne rivers join south of Ledecestrescire in an area south of Offchurch. As you can see in the map above, the rivers join just southwest of the Offcurch location, so you’ll need to sail to the meeting point and then jump out and make your way inland a bit to find the Crypt where King Burgred is hiding.

As you near Offchurch, you’ll find an entrance to the Crypt, but the door is jammed from the inside. Thus, you’ll need to use the entrance inside the Offchurch area. It’s worth noting that this is a restricted zone, so you’ll need to be careful while sneaking around. Once you’ve entered the area, the Crypt entrance will be marked on your map.

Now that you have completed the Awry and Alne rivers portion of the Tilting the Balance quest, all that’s left to do is find King Burgred and bring him back to Tamworth. Head through the entrance and go down the stairs in front of you. Eliminate or sneak past the guard and go through the entrance straight ahead. (Note: In this room, you’ll find a crack in the wall that will lead you to the Focus of the Nornir ability.)

Head down the hallway to your right and Eivor will note that you must be close to finding King Burgred. Kill the guard and then make your way through the entrance straight ahead. Loot the guard’s body to get the key needed to unlock the doors straight ahead.

If you can’t find the key, use Odin’s Sight to reveal its location. Now unlock the door and you’ll need to defeat King Burgred in hand-to-hand combat. Once you do that, you can tie him up and bring him back to Tamsworth. This will complete the Tilting the Balance quest.
