Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time seemed to have snuck onto the PS4 right at the end of its lifespan. Released on October 2, this newest installment to the Crash franchise is a massive hit. However, it seems quite clear that people are worried about buying it for one single reason: Will the game get a free PS5 upgrade? Virtual PS5 players especially are a bit worried, and unfortunately, we have slightly disappointing news.
Will Crash Bandicoot 4 Get a Free PS5 Upgrade?
Sony has been pretty quiet about PS5 upgrades. As such, we don’t know if Crash Bandicoot 4 will get a free PS5 upgrade yet. However, the game is compatible with Sony’s next-gen hardware, so you will be able to play Crash 4 on the PlayStation 5.
On the PS5, the game will likely look even better than ever. That’s because PS4 games have typically have lower framerate and resolution when compared to PS5. Even better, some of Crash 4‘s long load times will shorten significantly on the new console. It’ll look like a brand new game, even if it doesn’t come with it’s own PS5 exclusive download or physical copy.
Because of that, feel free to pick up the game now. Even in the worst case scenario, you’ll be able to play the game on the PS5. (And the game’s really good, so you should start playing now!).
If you don’t want to play it on PS4, there’s also an Xbox version. As of right now, there is no version available for the PC, and knowing Crash, he’s probably not jumping his way into computers anytime soon.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is the newest action platformer in the Crash Bandicoot franchise. Available on the PS4 and Xbox, Crash 4 focuses on bringing the old, nostalgic Crash games of the past to modern consoles, now with brand new maps. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but the developers at Toys for Bob took to heart the criticism of previous Crash Bandicoot remasters. And does it show!
