Does It Takes Two Have Local Couch Co-Op?

From the developers of A Way Out, It Takes Two is one of the most charming co-op games ever created. The fantastical elements and themes of love make it a fantastic couples game, though it’s required for your co-op friend to be your partner. And it’s no piece of cake, either! But, these kinds of games are a lot more fun when you can turn around and talk to the person next to you. So, is It Takes Two a couch co-op game? Or is multiplayer restricted to online play only?

It Takes Two | Is There Local Couch Co-Op?

Does It Takes Two have local couch co-op?

Yes, It Takes Two features local couch co-op multiplayer. In fact, the entire game can be played locally as a co-op game, or online as a split screen game. Because it’s a two-player experience, you don’t really need to have any other options, so no matter what you can play this wonderful game with a partner. And even better, your partner does not have to pay for the game, whether or not you’re online!

The couch co-op experience is almost exactly like the online experience: You each get to see each other’s perspectives and explore the fantastical world together. The couch experience is probably a bit better for bickering with each other, since there are a bunch of mini-games to enjoy with your co-op partner throughout the game. So, you can enjoy the closeness of a friend or partner while exploring this rather long world!

That being said, if you must stay distant from one another for any reason, there’s a solution: You can continue your co-op campaign wherever you want. As long as you’re on the same console, It Takes Two allows the second player to download a code for free that simply allows them to play as Player 2. That’s right, you don’t need two copies of the game to play online! It’s basically just to allow for couch co-op wherever you go, but it’s a really nice gesture on the part of the devs!
