As you first start out in Grounded, you’ll be able to make a simple axe that will allow you to cut through grass and other basic items in the backyard. However, as you begin exploring, you’ll come across stronger items that will require the Insect Axe, which is a Tier 2 weapon. Luckily, it’s not very hard to make a Tier 2 axe in Grounded, but you’ll need to gather some specific supplies.
How to Get a Tier 2 Insect Axe in Grounded
The Tier 2 Insect Axe will allow you to cut through stronger materials and will deal higher damage to enemies than the Peblet Axe. Of course, it’s a bit trickier to craft as it will require parts from ladybugs and stinkbugs, two of the stronger enemies in the game — especially when you’re just starting out. To get the Tier 2 Insect Axe in Grounded, you’ll need:
- Ladybug Head (1)
- Bombardier Part (3)
- Spider Silk (4)
Obviously, the ladybug head can be acquired by killing the spotted creature. Further, once you do so, you’ll want to take the head back to the closest Analyzer so you can learn the recipe for the Insect Axe. With that done, you’ll need to track down Bombardier Parts from the Bombardier Beetle and Spider Silk.
These shouldn’t be too hard to find, as beetles can be found wandering around, similar to ladybugs, and Spider Silk can be obtained by hitting spider webs (or killing spiders.) You should be able to find a big web to the left of the giant rank on the western portion of the map.
In addition to all this, if you plan to craft the Tier 2 Insect Axe, you’ll need to have made a workbench, as you can’t make the Tier 2 weapons without one. Luckily, it’s pretty simple to make and requires Grass Planks (3), Sprigs (4), and Sap (2). If you need help finding the last ingredient, you may want to make a Sap Catcher.
With the workbench in place and the above items collected, you’ll be ready to make your Tier 2 Insect Axe, congrats! This should help you when fighting stronger enemies and will allow you to learn new recipes since you can now harvest new materials.
