Fans of the Wizarding World are aware of the magical beasts that surround them in Hogwarts Legacy. Not only do they learn aspects of life from them, but some only appear on rare occasions. There’s no telling what you might run into as you explore the world outside of the castle walls. With this in mind, one such creature that we’re casually referring to is the Giant Squid that can pop up in Hogwarts Legacy. Indeed, we get to see the Giant Squid in the game, where this experience was only available through the Harry Potter books. We’ll show you the general location of where to spot the cephalopod.
Where to Find the Giant Squid in Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy players can encounter the Giant Squid by flying over the northern portion of the Great Lake (or Black Lake to some fans). Mainly, navigate among the northeastern part of the South Hogwarts Region. It’s ideally between Hogwarts Castle and Hogsmeade when you go through the World Map. We’ve marked a general location of where to go, but don’t expect the aquatic creature to show up whenever you decide to visit. His appearances are randomized except for a couple of other occasions.
During your initial flying lesson, you’ll take flight across parts of the world with a fellow student from Madam Kogawa’s class. When you fly through the rings that surround Hogwarts, the accompanying student will point out the Giant Squid. They’ll exclaim: “Our aquatic resident likes to make an appearance once in a while!” This further proves that the creature in question only shows up at random times, scripted or not.
There’s one other way that you can see the Giant Squid in action, though it boils down to what House you’re in. It occurs in the Slytherin Common Room with one of the windows in the living quarters to the far right. Casting basic attacks on the window will trigger a 2-second event with a tentacle smashing onto the glass. The tentacle will quickly retreat, giving it more of a mysterious vibe in terms of interaction.
