Ambitious players Hogwarts Legacy are capable of wielding powerful magic. Throughout their time as a fifth-year student, they’ll embark on various quests and mystical activities, with one involving the interactive Merlin Trials. These test your wits and timing, prepared by none other than the legendary wizard himself. Furthermore, completing them with reward you with additional Gear Slots. However, these trials are only activated with Mallowsweet Leaves. Some are given to you by an NPC early on, though you will have to collect more for yourself. Here’s how you can acquire and grow Mallowsweet for your needs at Hogwarts.
Where to Find Mallowsweet Leaves in Hogwarts Legacy
You can purchase Mallowsweet Leaves by Timothy Teasdale at the Magic Neep, just a little west of central Hogsmeade. The bearded gent marks them at 100 Galleons per piece, but they are merely in limited supply. Therefore, buy both the leaves and the seed packet for the item in question. He sells the Mallowsweet Seed for 200, which is an insane deal once you start tending to the Room of Requirement. Additionally, he also offers packets for Fluxweed, Knotgrass, and Shrivelfig seeds.
Once you’ve acquired your yellow leaves, you can then head over to any Merlin Trial across the map. These are indicated by a single-leaf icon in black and white. The description for these reads: “Merlin Trials are puzzles allegedly created by Merlin himself while a student at Hogwarts as a diversion for his fellow Slytherins”. Of course, each trial is unique, requiring a different approach from the player.
As we mentioned before, the time will eventually come to collect more leaves of the colorful plant. This is easily done by working within the Room of Requirement and farming Mallowsweet in any pot size. Its growth time is set at 10 minutes, though the process is accelerated if you use fertilizer. You can purchase some from Beatrice Green over at the Dogweed & Deathcap shop, north of Hogsmeade.
Keep in mind that the Room of Requirement is the ultimate hub for your farming and potion-making needs. There’s more than one room within the Room of Requirement, so be sure to utilize the space as much as you can.
