There are so many resources around Stardew Valley, and all of them come into play somehow. Even Trash plays an interesting role, but you’ll need the right tools to make it work. That being said, there are many materials and items that you can’t acquire unless you’re using the correct methods. Oak Resin is one such item, and you’ll need to put in some work and level up your skills so that you can properly harvest it.
Fortunately, the news as good. As long as you do things consistently, you’ll be able to keep a steady supply of this sappy substance flowing into your farm. But before you can bring in the harvest, you’ll need to put together special devices called Tappers. Don’t fret, though: this guide will explain everything you need to know.

How to Build a Tapper
The first step to getting the Oak Resin is building yourself a Tapper. The Tapper is a tool made specifically to generate new resources from the trees around your farm as well as the surrounding lands.
You’ll unlock the recipe fairly early on by foraging every day. More specifically, you’ll get it after increasing your Foraging to level 3. Once you do, the Tapper will require 40 pieces of Wood and two Copper Bars in order to build.
The copper requirement is likely the hardest part of this recipe, as you’ll need to get Copper Ore from the Mines and possibly from rocks around the farm. After you have enough, you’ll need to smelt them into bars by placing them into a Furnace.
How to Get Oak Resin With Tapper
Once you have a Tapper built, all you need to do is select it and place it on the side of an Oak Tree. After it’s been placed, the Tapper will start working automatically, and can take up to eight days to yield Oak Resin for collecting.
As you might have expected, collecting tree sap is a very slow process. For that reason, it’s probably best to build multiple Tappers and place them around your farm. You can use them on other trees, too. Maple trees produce Maple Syrup, Mahogany trees produce Sap, Pine trees produce Pine Tar, and Mushroom Trees produce various mushrooms.
Other Ways to Get Oak Resin
Unfortunately, Oak Resin is a pretty niche item, so there aren’t many alternatives to getting your hands on some. Your best bet is to craft a bunch of Tappers and place them on as many Oak Trees as possible.
There are only two other ways that you may come across this substance: Haunted Skulls and Hardwood. Haunted Skulls have a chance to drop Oak Resin, and they can be found in the Dungeon levels of the Mines or floating around the Quarry Mines. Hardwood may also yield some when put through a Wood Chipper.
The Many Uses of Oak Resin
Oak Resin isn’t part of very many recipes, but the recipes that call for it are quite useful. It’s a primary ingredient in Deluxe Speed-Gro, a fertilizer which significantly speeds up the growth of your plants. You can also use it to make Kegs, which are essential to making refined or fermented products which can be very profitable.
Tappers installed on trees will be destroyed if the tree is struck by lightning. You can reduce the chance of this destruction by installing Lightning Rods around your farm.
