Mortal Shell Co-Op | Does it Have Multiplayer?
With the Mortal Shell beta now underway, there are a lot of players wondering if they’ll be able to play the game with their friends or if they’ll be bound to a single-player mode. In this guide, we are going to take a look at the Mortal Shell co-op options to see if the game supports multiplayer. Let’s get started!
Does Mortal Shell Support Co-Op Play?
Unfortunately, Mortal Shell does not support co-op play on any platform. Further, there are no plans to develop a multiplayer mode for the game in the near future. In the official Discord server, Cold Symmetry stated, “We’re focused on single-player, we’re a small indie team. There are no PVP or co-op plans for now.”
While this is certainly disappointing for some, it’s definitely understandable since there is a small team behind the game. Further, the statement doesn’t completely rule out a Mortal Shell co-op mode in the future, it simply states that there isn’t one planned right now.
While there isn’t a release date for the game right now, there is a live beta on the Epic Games Store that players can try out. The free to download beta is open to everyone and will take players through the first couple of hours of the game before it launches on the Epic Games Store, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 later this year. Mortal Shell will be coming to Steam in 2021.
For those not familiar with the game, Mortal Shell is an action-RPG developed by a small studio named Cold Symmetry. In the game, players will be able to possess lost warriors by awakening their “Mortal Shells” and taking over their bodies and skills. In the open beta, participants will possess two Moral Shells named Harros and Tiel.
Further, for those who want to participate in the beta, you won’t have any of the main story spoiled, as it’s more of a chance to get used to the gameplay mechanics than it is to take a deep dive into the game’s story and lore. However, if you plan to play, beware, it’s a true soulslike game, so get ready for a challenge.
So while there is no Mortal Shell co-op, there’s still plenty to look forward to. Why not hop in and try it out?
