The PlayStation 2 spawned a number of fan-favorite series with incredibly long lives. And today, one of the most iconic series is celebrating a very important milestone. Insomniac Games is toasting its beloved IP Ratchet & Clank for its 20th year anniversary. To help celebrate the occasion, Insomniac has a few items in store. The first treat is a new set of DLC armors for Rift Apart. However, the team is also putting several past releases into the PS Plus Premium library. Read on for all the details.
20 Years Of Ratchet & Clank
As 3D platforming was still being defined, Ratchet & Clank literally changed the game when it came out for PS2 in 2002. Now having made its way onto the most current gen of console with Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, the beloved series is celebrating 20 years of comedy sci-fi adventures.
As part of this anniversary, Insomniac Games is releasing a special Armor Pack. It allows you to dress up the Lombaxes in iconic outfits from the most memorable games, plus some original ones. Even more, is that many of the main entries in the series are available through PS Plus Premium with more being added on November 15.
Ratchet & Clank already had a catchy name and the prospect of a dynamic duo, but the gameplay and writing really made it pop. The games follow the adventures of Ratchet, a tech-savvy and laid-back feline alien called a Lombax. Joining him is Clank, a small and sophisticated robot full of wit and charm. The two join forces to take down all manner galactic threats as they travel the universe and visit different planets. The cherry on top is the huge range of wacky and wild weapons combined with excellent third-person action. The peerless comedy littered throughout the story is only icing on the cake.
Insomniac Games has made a lot of hits but Ratchet & Clank holds a special place in a lot of players’ hearts. This latest celebration is another chance to relive some of PlayStation’s most beloved adventures.
