All Stranded Deep Enemies | Aquatic Creature Breakdown

Stranded Deep features a rather impressive ecosystem of aquatic creatures that can be dangerous to your character. While some are dangerous, other creatures are, of course, non-threatening and just serve as a source of meat or resources. Many of these enemies might deal damage to you and can even kill you if you’re not careful. Defeating them rewards higher-tier materials than usual, so you’re going to have to fight them someday. Hopefully, this list will help you pick your matchups!

Poisonous Enemies

Now we get to the fun part! Some of the enemies in Stranded Deep don’t do much damage and instead focus on poisoning you.

Further, some of these are just obstacles and thus do not die if attacked. Be careful when swimming to avoid these guys!

  • Lionfish: Can be slain; can be crafted into Repellent if skinned correctly.
  • Sea Snake: Immortal, swimming little striped snakes.
  • Sea Urchin: Also unbeatable, but are found in the ocean on objects.
  • Crown of Thorns Starfish: These guys can be found in shallow waters or on coral. Be careful, they can’t die and inflict poison.
  • Snake: Snakes technically deal two damage, but the poison is vastly more annoying. Snakes drop one small meat when killed, and die relatively fast.

Regular Enemies

Non-poisonous enemies range from being rather basic to brutalizing you. Make sure you’re prepared before handling most of these guys since they can bring you down fast if you’re not prepared!

  • Crab: These guys pinch you gently if you step on them or attack them, but die fast. One small meat for killing.
  • Tiger Shark: Now these are scary! It’s fairly easy to kill a shark, but they can also circle you and can quickly inflict a lot of damage. Before you enter the waters, make sure you have a spear! Killing these guys nets you three large meat and three rawhides.
  • Hammerhead Shark: These guys also tear through your health bar, but can also occasionally cause bleeding. Bring bandages on your water quests, since these guys are common! They also drop three large meat and three rawhides.
  • Great White Shark: The daddy of all sharks! Well, all normal sharks. These hit hard, almost double as hard as the other two shark types. They can also bleed you! Taking them down gives four large meat and four rawhides if you take them to shore.
  • Giant Crab: A bit spookier than the standard crab, the Giant Crab hits harder and is harder to kill, but is still not that bad of a fight. Kill them for two medium meat.
  • Giant Hog: The hog’s older brother is pissed now! They hurt a lot, be careful! Taking it down gets you four rawhides and two large meat, which is fantastic for you!

Boss Encounters

Stranded Deep Enemies

There are only three bosses in Stranded Deep and they only spawn once and are critical for the story’s progress. So you don’t need to worry about them unless you’re trying to complete the boss-specific story quests.

  • The Meg: Basically a Great White Shark, that hits much less hard and is so tanky! Bring a big spear if you see a shark eating a whale carcass, and maybe a drink.
  • Moray Eel: The submarine wreck holds a terrifying beast, and perhaps a reference to Super Mario 64. Fun! Just be careful.
  • Giant Squid: The Giant Squid has a ton of health… Like, double the Meg. This is the endgame, though, so as a final test of your skill and materials, it’s fine!

Passive Creatures

There are 15 creatures that are unable to fight back in Stranded Deep, so we won’t call them enemies, but felt they should be included since they are creatures you’ll come across regularly. They just provide meat, in various quantities.

There are a few creatures that you can’t kill at all:

  • Starfish
  • Reef Shark
  • Humpback Whale

Then there are some that don’t fight back, provide small meat, and are easy to take down:

  • Sardine
  • Archer Fish (PC)
  • Discus
  • Clown Fish
  • Seagull
  • Bat
  • Stingrays

Medium meat drops from larger fish, and thus you may need a few more hits with the spear:

  • Cod
  • Archer Fish (Console)
  • Giant Grouper
  • Marlin
  • Boar (Runs away from you, also provides Raw Hide. Respawns once per 7 days).

The Marlin is unique, as it is the only passive creature that drops Large Meat! They are also really hard to put down. Make sure you have a good strategy to keep it trapped so it can’t run, or just get a very high-damage weapon.

Now that you know about all of the enemies that Stranded Deep has to offer, you should be ready to take on the worst of them!
