Studio Onoma To Shut Down Several Games, Including Deus Ex GO
Some gaming companies put a lot of effort into their mobile titles, but they’re not always sustainable. Studio Onoma, responsible for several titles using well-known Square Enix IPs, will be shutting down several of its games. This means that current players will completely lose access come January 2023. Unfortunately, interested players are running out of time, as they’re to be removed from Apple and Android storefronts in December.

Studio Onoma, formerly known as Square Enix Montreal, has been quite prolific in its development goals. These include Deus Ex GO, Hitman Sniper: The Shadows, Arena Battle Champions, and Space Invaders: Hidden Heroes. Unfortunately, all of those games will be shut down in the coming months.
According to the official tweet featured above, all of the titles will be removed from online stores on December 1. Furthermore, access to them will be revoked from owners on January 4, 2023. Players are encouraged to make use of any in-game purchases, especially since purchases have already been halted. They’ve also made it clear that no refunds will be issued following the shutdown.
Among the mobile titles, several of them are drawn from Square Enix IPs. These mark the biggest of the listed games which are Deus Ex GO and Hitman Sniper: The Shadows. Both are connected to much larger game series which are still producing console and PC entries. The former follows a universe where cybernetics are commonplace and debate over them is a source of major conflict. The latter follows the story of an engineered and highly-trained assassin frequently sent to eliminate high-profile targets, only to get embroiled in larger schemes. With Space Invaders: Hidden Heroes bearing the name of an arcade classic, Arena Battle Champions is the only original title in the game being a 3v3 MOBA game.
Many mobile games require online maintenance which can be both difficult and expensive. Studio Onoma realized this for Deus Ex GO, Hitman Sniper: The Shadows, Arena Battle Champions, and Space Invaders: Hidden Heroes, which will be fully shut down next January.
