The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Gets Pushed Back Further Into The Dark

The fantasy genre owes a lot to the inspiration of Tolkien’s epic series The Lord Of The Rings. As time goes on, more and more properties based on his works are created. However, one of the latest additions to the franchise will have to wait a bit longer. That’s because The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum has been delayed an unknown number of months. Originally scheduled to come out at some point in the fourth quarter, it’s now expected to land in 2023. For fans, the fact that no new release date has been given is slightly concerning.

The Lord Of Rings: Gollum Is Delayed

Even though the Lord Of The Rings trilogy came out in the 1950s, the fantasy series continues to make headlines. After first inspiring a successful film adaptation, it spilled into numerous games that were a mix of well and poorly received. The newest game in the LOTR lineup is The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum that looks like it’s no longer guaranteed to come out in 2022. Daedalic Entertainment is one of the main forces behind the game’s release and according to their statement, they want to make sure Gollum’s story “honors the vision of J.R.R. Tolkien.”

Though LOTR is full of memorable characters, Gollum is arguably one of the most interesting yet least explored. With LotR: Gollum, fans will finally get a chance to play as the tortured ring-obsessed creature. Through different mediums, Gollum is depicted as a ghoulish scrawny creature living alone in the darkness and surviving off whatever he can get his hands on. The gameplay showcases Gollum sneaking through a number of environments from the wilderness to fortresses. Due to his statue, Gollum will need to rely on stealth, navigation, and traps in order to survive and achieve his goal of possessing the One Ring once more.

The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum is shaping up to be a LOTR experience unlike any previously released. However, everyone will have to wait for a few more months for the chance to experience it.
