Will Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Be Xbox Exclusive?

We aren’t the only ones wondering who will go to who in the recent Microsoft/Activision Blizzard acquisition. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater is one of those titles that players are curious about. With so many franchises going to Microsoft’s library, will we see Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater on all platforms, or will it become an Xbox exclusive? Here’s what we know so far.

Will Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Be An Xbox Exclusive?

Will Tony Hawk's Pro Be An Xbox Exclusive?

Since no current plans have been established for the next Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater title, the series will probably stick with the Xbox platforms. This includes the next-gen consoles of Xbox Series X|S along with PC, but we might not see it coming home to Sony or Nintendo in the near future. Our conclusion as of now: the next Tony Hawk game will likely be an Xbox exclusive title.

This idea comes from the not-so-long-ago Microsoft/Bethesda acquisition that saw the popular title Deathloop being available on both PlayStation and Xbox consoles. During that deal, Bethesda already had Deathloop set in motion to release on multiple platforms, so an establishment was already in play by the time Microsoft purchased them for $8.1 million back in 2020. But at the time of writing, Deathloop still isn’t available to play on Xbox platforms, so who truly knows where the deal bends to whom during the acquisitional period.

Luckily, for PlayStation owners, this new acquisition will not go into effect until June 30, 2023, supposedly. Around the duration of this period should be the releases of huge titles such as Overwatch 2 and this year’s untitled Call of Duty entry. So, until the deal is officially settled, the studios across Activision Blizzard’s roster will continue to work without Microsoft as their boss, technically. Yet, Microsoft has already rolled out the red carpet for this event with a blog by Phil Spencer; most likely to shed light on the incoming changes that will occur once problematic CEO Bobby Kotick leaves the company after troubling allegations against him. Spencer commented:

Until this transaction closes, Activision Blizzard and Microsoft Gaming will continue to operate independently. Once the deal is complete, the Activision Blizzard business will report to me as CEO, Microsoft Gaming.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater Xbox Activision Blizzard Acquisition

We can always try to speculate on which games will be an Xbox exclusive, but since this news is very recent, there is no definite answer. However, ever since the release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, we haven’t heard much from Activision on the next title. Therefore, we can rightly presume that the next Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater entry will be an Xbox Exclusive. While this may come as bad news to some players, Spencer did proclaim that Activision Blizzard games are “enjoyed on a variety of platforms and we plan to continue to support those communities moving forward.” So, maybe we don’t have to give up on hope just yet.

Be sure to visit us again fairly soon as we monitor this heavy deal of close to $69 million. We’ll keep an eye on which games will go to the Xbox library as the deal date now approaches closer on our radar.
